Im ersten Kapitel werden Begriffe wie Nachfragerwettbewerb, wirtschaftliche Macht und Nachfragemacht diskutiert und näher erläutert. Das zweite Kapitel zielt auf eine Erklärung der Nachfragemachtentstehung im Handel ab, wobei verschiedene Ursachen dafür herangezogen werden. Das Hauptaugenmerk ist dabei allerdings gerichtet auf den Konzentrationsprozeß im Handel als wesentlichen Grund für Nachfragemachtentstehung. Im dritten Kapitel werden diverse Instrumente beschrieben, die beschaffungspolitisch gegenüber den Anbietern eingesetzt werden, und zwar umso mehr, je mächtiger der jeweilige Nachfrager bzw. abhängiger der jeweilige Anbieter ist.
